Emma Hutchinson MA LTCL FRSA
Director and Founder
Emma established The Music House for Children in 1994. The school is part of The Bush Hall Group encompassing Bush Hall (est. 2001), Little Birdsong (est. 2012) and Bush Hall Dining Rooms (est. 2013). Emma is the composer of Little Birdsong Music. She is a trustee of LEYMN, trustee of Play Association H&F, founder member of MERYC UK and a fellow of RSA. Emma teaches and trains to support and facilitate high quality music provision and resources. Emma advocates musical experiences to help to nurture creative independence and social skills, and subsequently build life chances in babies and young children. Her commitment to this cause is reflected in her efforts to advise policy makers on the significance of music as part of a young child’s right, and in her research studies (see Case Studies).
Together with her team Emma trains early years educators and musicians to enable musical experiences in young children, including those with language delay, autism, deafness and cognitive impairment. The core objective is learning through playful and child-initiated music making, with a focus on communication, gross and fine motor development (see Training).
Emma commissioned the Little Birdsong Treasure Basket comprising high quality instruments for young children (available on www.littlebirdsong.co.uk). Her new and extensive early years training programme and resource pack will be available from 2016. Emma is composer of the Little Birdsong music books. She commissioned the Little Birdsong Treasure ETC.
