Training in Early Years Music Provision

“Inspiring, energetic, positive, professional and engaging.” – R. Young (teacher).

The Music House for Children has contributed significantly to the provision of music and movement sessions to very young children. Since 1994 our early years teaching work has been a consistent and evolving process involving research, teaching and collating traditional, new and appropriate material for this age group.

The teaching provision and training directly supports independent response by children and babies and demonstrates the enormous overall benefits that regular musical activities brings to their lives and their families. Our training in early years music supports not only musicians but also non-musicians and those working in early years settings. Training works with resources, material and activity outlines suitable for early years teaching. The material is also linked to the Foundation Planning for Learning. All six key stages are fully linked to musical activities, storytelling, moving, singing (making sounds) and appraisal (enjoying listening).

Our training programmes can be tailored for specific groups.

  • Training musicians to teach effective music and movement sessions in nursery groups including drop-in nursery groups and day care centres.
  • Training nursery leaders to continue with music and movement sessions after the project came to an end.
